The story behind these works started when one day, upon opening the wood kiln, I found that all of the ceramic pieces that I had put in looked extraordinary except for a series of broken sculptures. Nonetheless, they were made of the kind of clay which I have used many times for that kind of firing process.
I then carefully cleaned up the kiln, put the broken pieces in a box to be discarded.
Four months later, the box was still in a corner of my workshop. I had not been able to get rid of it. I then opened the box and decided to play with the pieces of the puzzle! While working with these pieces which did not want to “die”, the theme of "Resilience", the ability of a material or a being to recover from trauma, came to my mind as an evidence. I decided to associate two materials together, ceramics and pure silk fibres, the more resilient of the two could be the one we think about less.
